can substrate bring mites?

I was wondering if certain types or brands of substrate are known for harboring mites. I recently used bark and then my snakes got mites. I cleaned him and the cage switched the substrate back to the old stuff and havent had a problem since.

Not to my knowledge. Not to say it can harbor bugs. But reptile mites are a very specific animal and wouldn't survive long way from a host.
