    additional RI questions
i didn't see (or just overlooked) the answer to my questions in some of the other respiratory infection threads, but i think i should get some clarification before something actually happens to Lennie.
First of all, when looking for symptoms, how would you tell the wheezing from, say a few deep breaths when being handled?

Second, how long would an infection take to set in? would a couple days of extra low humidity (30% ish) do it, or would the snake have to be exposed to those conditions for something closer to a week?

the reason i ask is because for the first few days when i was setting up the enclosure, the humidity was down in that 30% range. the only wheezing i have noticed just sounded like deep breaths and there have been none of the other symptoms mentioned that i have noticed.

First it can take days or even weeks to develop an RI it depends on the conditions that the animal is in and the health of the animal.

Second wheezing sounds like a very light distant whistle and depending on the degree of RI may only happen during handling or deep exhales.

My suggestion is if your in doubt run the animal by the vet a few quick tests will tell you and the sooner you catch it the better chance you have of successfully treating it. :D

    Hope that helped

yea, actually. i located a vet some time ago (closest one is over an hour away!:O), but i believe i'll be able to make a trip by there in the near future.
