    Argh.... RI?
I was holding my bp this morning, and noticed he's making a slight squeak/wheezing when he breathes. I also noticed that his belly is pink, his eyes are a bit hazy (not blue yet), and his skin has that dull, shed look to it.

Since I've had him, he's been housed in a tub, with temps at what they should be (hot side 90-93, cool 80, ambient 80, humidity always 55-60%).

Does this sound more like an RI or maybe due to what appears to be an impending shed?

Some times shed around the nose can make them weeze wait till he sheds then have it checked for an RI and know for sure

It makes more sense that it would be shed-related.

Can they still develop an RI even when conditions are optimal?

Also a thing I have noticed when holding the snake, is they sometimes wheez if you are holding them around where their lungs are. Its kinda like a fat person sitting on you, its hard to breath. Also sheds cause loose skin around the nose. Monitor it and if it gets worse get treatment.

Yes for more reasons than I care to name. But the main thing is that if it is an RI you caught it and in a couple of weeks your little snake will be right as rain and never know the difference.

Hmmm.... Now that you mention it, I only heard him wheezing while I was holding him and for a short period after putting him back in his tub. He's been back in for awhile now, and I hear no noise.

typically you wont unless it is real bad. If you still hear it even once after he sheds I'd say its worth a vet trip..Better safe than sorry

It sure seems like it was just an issue with him being held, but I will keep listening, and like you said, take him to the vet if it continues.

    Thanks everybody!
