    Moving snake
Hey guys I am wondering what to do if I was say going to move from SLC to Eugene Oregon? I was thinking I can keep an idea I saw here and use a butter plastic container with holes poked in it and some hand warmers for the trip. What do you guys and gals think? ANY help would be appreciatated.

That should work, but try to insulate the hand warmers as they can get too warm if they get too close to container or snake. Do you know how long the snake will be in transit?

You may want to do a search on shipping snakes as the packaging should be about the same.

My family and i just moved cross country, we had two cats, a bunny, and my BP to move with us. Since we were going to take a few days to travel we shipped the larger tank with the furniture, and pulled out the small tank, set it up in the back seat of the car with an ac adapter for the car. the tank was wrapped in blankets to keep the heat in. At night, he was brought into the hotel room and set up in less than a minute. And when we finally got to our new home, he was the first things set up. even before my bed. Since almost nothing about his enviroment changed for him, he slammed a rat the very next day.

So you think most hotels won;t have an issue with me bringing in a tank? I have a smaller 10 gallon tank I can use to transport him in and I can move the bigger tank through the mail but I was worried with shipment of bigger tank and possible cracking and such to the glass. what you think?

For transport/hotel set up you'd be better off with a critter keeper or tub. They are easier to carry around and set up and since it's only a day or so, your snake won't notice the difference.

I can't offer any suggestion on shipping the tank. I imagine that, if it is an aquarium and you can't take it with you, the cost of shipping is going to be more than just buying a new/used one when you get to OR. You can always find tanks for about $1/gallon on Craigslist.

So anyone got any suggestions on where to find the best way to setup a tub? I have only had a glass setup.

Just go to wal-mart and get a small sterilite tub. put some small holes it it and set it up with some hides. if you are in a warm enviroment and its not to long of a trip just get some hand warmers and set them on top.
