A sad story comes to a happy new beginning
So I just recently replied to an ad on craigslist where the guy stated that he purchased his ball python for 600 and wanted to see if he could sell it cage and all for 100. So I wrote to him asking why he paid so much was it a particular morph or something. He told me no and he must have been suckered. Anyways I told him I was not interested as a 100 dollars is not justifialbe to me for a normal ball. I thanked him and gave him my number and said if he doesn't getting any takers he could get back to me and I would by it for a reasonable price. Anyways 2 days later he texted me saying that the snake was mine at no charge. In the text he also said to bring my "picker uppers" so I did just in case I had a mean male on my hands. Man I was stoked. So I headed out to pick it up and noticed a couple things were off, but I ignored them and ended up taking the snake home while in it's cage anyways. Put it in my car and got home. Anyways I get home and carry the 50 gallon tank with the snake and all in to my house and set it down and this is what I saw.

Snake skin that appeared to be from multiple sheds and in a dry cage.

A huge hide. What disgusted me the most though was that inside the hide it looked like this.

This feces was very old and the snake was in it when I pulled him out of the tank. The snake is very beautiful and rest assured it will be taken care of. Here it is happy in its new rack. I will be making a nice hide for him tonight and everything. This story now has a good new beginning

P.S I'm sure there have been a lot worse situations out there but it broke my heart to see this one. And it's not mean at all it's actually very sweet and wants to be held.

Good job on the rescue. He looks actually healthy for being in those conditions. He looks as if he might have an eye cap or a dent. The dent can be fixed by upping the humidity and it will go away.

He is beautiful and very lucky that he is with you now. I just don't understand why people treat animals so badly.
Thank you for all of us who love animals for rescuing him.

Yeah thanks for all of your support on this. I do have him in quarantine and he is in a higher humidity though I didn't do a thourough check yet because I want to let him relax in his new rack. We will see how it goes.

Yeah me too. He seems so happy now. I know your not supposed to hold them for 3 days or so after you get them so I haven't but it's really hard because he comes towards me like he wants to be held.
