    Scale rot?
My friend sent me a couple of pictures of her snake which i think has scale rot. Most of the bottom half of the snakes belly came off. The front half is perfectly fine. She has already cleaned out the cage and put her on paper towels. She was on aspen bedding. Her temps are fine. Does she need to remove the heating pad and put a above light instead? She thinks her snake was soaking in her bowl and going straight back to the heating pad alot lately causing it to be hot and very humid. Anyway, here is the photos, is there anyway she can treat it herself? She is taking her to the vet tomorrow if she needs to. She caught it early so it is not as bad, but some scales are a hue of brown.

I would say a vet visit is best:) It could be worse for sure, but that does look bad enough to say a vet visit is in order.
    Good Luck!!

Alright, there are also scales under the dead looking ones, what does that mean?

I have not personally expeirenced scale rot that bad, only a minor case that cleared up after some polysporin, so I cannot help you there. It is possible that the scales that were damaged are revealing the under-layer that would be seen after a shed. Thats my guess but like I said I don't know much about bad cases of scale rot.
