    New BP Owner - Hello!
Hello all. I just bought my BP two days ago.

I bought it at PetCo down here in FL.
I've gotten mixed reactions from people about buying it from PetCo, but honestly, it's the cleanest place i've seen, cages and all, and i've been to over 20 reptile / pet shops in the area.

He's got no mites that I can see, no foam at the mouth, doesn't make a sound when breathing, eyes and scales are clean, clear and shiny.

He seems real healthy, doesn't seem very afraid, just cautious. I've left him alone for the most part but I couldn't help but handle him a few times. Sis a little safe test to make sure he;s strong, which he is. He started to get all curious when I was holding him, even tickled my nose a few times with his tongue. Haha.

Anywho, some one on another forum mentioned I should worry about internal mites or worms and that I should do a fecal test at a vet. He's sort of getting me worried, should I be? The BP is brand new for sure, only 13 inches. The PetCo I got him at has a vet for their reptiles and gave me his name and phone. I'm not sure wether it would be good to do tests or not. To be sure yes, but is it necessary?

I bought a California Kingsnake, which i've had for 2 years now, at the same PetCo. He's in perfect health, eats every week, always sheds clean. I've had reptiles for years so i'm not exactly new to reptile pets just BPs.

Another question I do have is this; I took him out for a few minutes to put in a better hide for him today and now he's somewhat spread out in an open part of the cage. He's alert and everything but I was just wondering what, if anything, that means! what should or shouldn;t he be doing or acting like?

Sorry for the long winded post but I want to make sure i'm doing everything I should be! Any tips are appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Here's a pic! Sorry about the fuzzyness but I didn't want to use a flash on him!

first of all, :welcome:. second i dont think using that Tide stick is going to get the dark blotches out of him:D. I will leave all the vet stuff to others with more skill than I. Again, welcome.

Probably Just Not Sure What Is What, Let Him Get Used To Everything And He Will Probably Go Right Back Into His Hide. You Posted Yesterday So He Is Probably Adjusted Already, Right?

Congrats! I purchase my snake from PetLand which is a very clean pet store and 3 weeks later, I noticed my snake had mites.

    It's sad..

I ordered some PAM, everyone says is awesome, but their customer service bites. I hope it comes, I'd like to know when, but I will not recommend that you get it directly from their site.
