stargazing?
i bought a baby rtb who was hatched in 07... i was wondering what exactly is stargazing? my boa will sometimes lift her head up and just periscope vertically about 5 inches... she doesnt stay in this position, but will sit there for a 4-5 seconds. is this stargazing?
ive heard stargazing is a symptom of ibd and i really hope she isnt harboring ibd... ive tried other tests such as flipping her over on her back and she is perfectly capable of turning over.
she also shows no symptoms of a URI. is this typical boa behavior or do i have something i really need to worry about?

Re: stargazing?
Sounds like she's periscoping. ;)

Re: stargazing?
It's not stargazing...just checking stuff out and being awfully cute. =)

Re: stargazing?
its not the normal periscoping though as her head is also vertical when shes doing this. all the same?

Re: stargazing?
One of my Salmons, does this same thing, sometimes for up to 30 mins. But she is the only one that does this.

Re: stargazing?
Another question that may go good with this is, If they ARE stargazing, does touching them make them stop? Mine stands straight up sometimes, but soon as he's touched or something moves he stops.

Re: stargazing?
Stargazing would definitely not stop if touched. The difference between stargazing and just bein' a weird little snake is whether or not the snake can become distracted. Stargazing is a symptom of neurological problems and they usually can't right themselves easily and either remain immobile, or flail and move wildly like they can't figure out how to move right or even which way is up.

she is also a salmon; could it be a morph thing? like some spider bp's have the spins.
the longest ive seen her in this position is about 20-25 seconds.
