A New "Substrate!"
So I heard from another member on this site about this recycled newspaper/cage liner that is nice and thick and more eye pleasing than newspaper but when I tried to order it they would not ship to Canada. Anyhow I got thinking and I decided to buy "Scott Shop Towels" and see if they would work as a good enclosure liner. I am so happy!
This stuff is basically superduper thick and heavy papertowel that doesn't make lint. It's 100% recycled cardboard and non-toxic! Just thought Id share. Its nice and soft too and my bp sure is loving it (and by loving it I mean pooing on it ha)

Re: A New "Substrate!"
is there a hazard to the snake by using printed newspaper, or is it just not as eye pleasing?

Re: A New "Substrate!"
Other than getting dirty-looking ink smudges on light colored snakes, there's no hazards at all to using plain ol' printed newspaper. :)
The shop towels sound nice, though! :gj:

You can also buy the equivalent of unprinted newspaper (I'm sick of ink on the snake's bellies) at Home Depot or Lowes. It's sheets of packing paper that's found in storage with the cardboard boxes for moving. I picked up two boxes the other day. Creative folding and it works great!

Thats what I was looking for here, but I cant seem to find it:( Maybe Im just not looking hard enough. But anyway I really like this stuff, the only weird thing about it is that its baby blue! Its cute though. I can order it online in white but the blue is fine for 55 sheets costing $2.

That interesting, I might be making the switch over to something like Paper towels or unprinted newsprint. Aspen is holding too much humidity for me liking.

Well, the Home Depot people didn't really know what I was asking about - but once I told them I was looking for it where the packing boxes are kept, they led me right to that area. It's a long flat box, the sheets are folded into thirds, so it's a long thin box that hold 145 sheets, probably about yay high (I know you can't see my fingers - so about 4 inches tall).
I understand that Lowes also carries it.

I know most people don't have this problem. In the community I live in, I live right next to a lake with a huge fountain(probably shoots water 30-50 feet in the air), so the humidity around here is ALWAYS above 75% and with it getting close to summer humidity will most likely be around 90-100% daily.:(
