Do you use them?
What kind do you use if so
What animal do you use it on?

Re: using snake gloves
My snake's hands never seem to get cold enough for gloves. :8:
Sorry, couldn't resist. :P I personally don't use them, but I could see where they would be handy (pun intended) for snakes like White-Lipped or an aggressive larger snake (Boa, retic, burm).

Re: using snake gloves
I use gloves on certain snakes. I do not have "snake gloves", I have a pair of thick rubber gloves that is used for heat. They are too thick for the snake to bite through. My wife and partner calls me a sissy. I am 6'4" 325lbs (Fat Boy) and use gloves to handle a ball python. I have a couple that will bite you everytime you handle them. Once they bite the gloves and realize they didn't hurt me they are fine. If I handled them without the gloves I really believe they would continuously bite me the whole time I was holding them.

Re: using snake gloves
I dont use gloves but I have to admit when I get one that moves really fast for some reason, I still flinch or jerk my hand away, even if it's a hatchling!

Re: using snake gloves
I use gloves for my anacondas, and some of my other less than friendly snakes.. I've got several pairs, but my favorites are a pair of elbow length dog bite gloves (we got them at our groom shop, and I decided I needed a pair. lol)

Re: using snake gloves
I have a 20" BP that hasn't even "balled up" or struck since I've had him, so I obviously feel no need for gloves. Also, I have freakishly warm/clamy hands that he seems to love curling up in.

Re: using snake gloves
I am thinking about getting some gloves myself. My whole thing is I don't know how I would react to my snake biting me. I wouldn't want to hurt him by flinching and dropping him.

Re: using snake gloves
I have never used snake gloves actually.
Now as for flinching..(seen a few mentioning)..Normally I can see it coming..I just know I am not going to be fast enough to get away..I just take it. I am always afraid to hurt their teeth by jerking.
But it they come out of no where or at my face yeah I do flinch.;)

Re: using snake gloves
I have a pair of gloves I use sometimes to handle one of my more 'enthusiastic' ball pythons. They are nothing more than gardening gloves though, and are really only for my own piece of mind. I know that, owning snakes, I am going to get bitten at some point, they just help me have more confidence handling. I wouldn't say that I need them but rather, they are like a security blanket for my wussy self.
