I would say leave it for the night if you can stand the smell in the morning:D Is it too big for the snake or is he close to shedding? As long as it's really dead I don't think it could hurt....anyone feel free to correct me:)

I'd take it out. I left one in overnight like that. And ill never do it again. The smell is unbearable. And lasts for days no matter what you do. Just horrendous!!!!

Sounds like a defensive kill. I'd take it out. But that's just me.

I've learned from experience. If its been that long, take it out. The smell will burn the set of nostrils you have now right off. It won't hurt him to wait a week.

    Hope this helps.

i took it out and threw it away

this was the first time i tried feeding holding it by the tail
and he totally constricted it and killed it

    so could it be this?
sat thru sunday his colors were faded and then monday through tues his eyes were blue

now its thrusday and his eyes are not blue any more

doesnt this mean hes about to shed

    Gotta love our stickies! :)

Here's one on the shedding process.....

Here's another on what to do if the shed goes wrong.....

If the snake is back to looking "normal", then you'll likely see a shed within 24 to 48 hours. Hopefully your enclosure humidity is about 50-60% so that can be done easily for the snake.

Just a thought....holding the rodent by the tail with your bare hands may be inviting a bite....not to the rodent...to you. Your hand may present a lot bigger heat signature.

I bump my humidity to 72% when they are in full blue and keep it there til they shed. This results in great sheds except for one snake who will not use a hide and instead hides under the paper substrate- arg! I have to soak him in a container with a lid for an hour and help him shed...
