Before I state my opinion I want to say pick the one you like the most and do your research before choosing.

With that said I would pick the burms over an iguana. I have had friends that have had iguanas and they are a pain in the....well you know. They get huge and the older they get the more aggressive they get.

Or you could get a beardie! :gj:

couldnt have said it better, if you want a lizard, i say bearded dragon all the way, they are great lizards and love to be handled. My uncle had an iguana and it was a mean mf'r, it would slash your knuckles with his tail everytime you went into the cage
i saw a red iguana at last months reptile show that i almost got, but got my ball instead.:gj:
all in all, get what you want most

I'm intrigued by iguanas but from what I have read the commitment is much more like getting a dog than keeping most herps. It's too much commitment for me at this stage in my life. Not as much commitment as getting a parrot though which seems to be like having a 4 year old child that never grows up and lives 60 years (but what amazing animals African greys are).

Iguanas are a huge commitment that require lots of space and lots of work. They can become aggressive suddenly, with no warning and some start out sweet but turn aggressive at sexual maturity. Do I need to post the link to the iguana bite pics? If you still think you want one say the word and I'll help you change your mind.

Iggy's shouldnt be sold anymore in my opinion. Most abused herp next to turtles and tortises.

Burms are no small step either.

If you have the experience with large reptiles and the space required to keep them, more power to you. Most 18 year old's don't have the finances to support either of those herps, or the minimum space needed, but if your confident you can fulfill both of these animals needs and care, then again, more power to you. ;)

    Make this decision well

Well, I guess I'd have to go for the burms, if only because I wouldn't trust an iguana. I'm sure some people have great iggys but I've heard way too many horror stories, coupled with the fact that they get huge...who needs a 6 foot lizard that might suddenly decide to rip your face off? Not to mention that you'd probably be buying him at a pet store and that would just be 15 bucks more to a place that probably sells iggys to any kid off the street that has the cash, and never a word about their size/care.

But then again, I'm more of a snake person than a lizard person.

What experience do you have with herps? I wouldn't suggest an iggy OR a dwarf burm as a first reptile, you might want to look into something a bit easier if this is your first time owning a reptile.

    Research..Research..Research

Can't say it enough. Think futuristically too..both of these animals are a huge commitment.

I won’t answer the poll but I will tell you a few thing you can expect with an iguana

6 feet lizard needing a large enclosure (at least 8X4X6).

    High husbandry requirements.

Requires a lot of handling which mean time to commit to them daily.

    Aggressive behavior.

Razor sharp teeth and claws (Which I both experience first hand).
