    Yesterday I joined the Club
To yesterday was feeding day for Kingsley so I got him 2 mice, a black one and a light brown one. Since the black one was bigger I threw that one in first, he saw it, killed it and then didn't eat it, he kept trying to, but was going at it butt first. Having remembered him doing the same thing last time i gave him a black mouse I waited 15 minutes, then decided to take the now dead mouse out of the feeding container and dropped the light brown one in. He killed that one right away and it was gone shortly after. Once he was done I went to pick him up and put him back in his home when he bit me. It seemed like a defensive bit ( the hit and let go kind) he drew a little blood but it scared me more than hurt.

I guess he was pissed I took half his meal away....ha

I wouldnt worry about them not eating it head first. If they want it, they will eat it. Sometimes my animals can take upwards of a half an hour to finally get that butt down. But they manage. :P

Most likely he was still in what I call "feeding mode." You have to be careful putting your hands near them right after they eat, the sweetest snake in the world will still give you a chomp. You might also think about just leaving him for a bit when he gets the mouse a weird way, they will usually work it out on their own and get it down. My snakes have swallowed them backwards and sideways before with no problems.

Its funny though. I think while he knows its a mouse, he gets thrown off by the color and doesn't know how to approach it. Any other color mouse and he's on it like flies to well you know...

well since i feed my bp in a seperate container outside of his cage... after shes done swallowing the mouse.. i just leave her alone and let her do what she wants... i know when its safe to grab her when she starts to try to get out of the box... usually if i dont grab her when she tries to get out.... she just slitthers over to my hand and wraps around me and chills and waits for me to move her myself haha
