night light in the herp room?
i allow my herp room to get dark with no extra light at night but was wondering if anyone here uses a small night light for various reasons and why.

I'm planning to get a blue led just to see my way around when I'm cleaning or feeding etc, usually I feed my snakes after the lights are out and use a small lamp to give a little light to work around the cages. A lamp does it's job but a blue led would just look muuuuuch better. :)

I might put that on a timer so it could be on for a few hours during the evening... Still planning thoug.

I have a blue moonlight bulb in lamp for each setup, so my room sort of glows at night. :) It kind of bothers my boyfriend, but not nearly as much as red lights would.

ya i cant sleep with those red bulbs in my room at night.

do you think that snakes would need a small light at night to allow them to see better? or do you think that they can see perfectly fine without one?

well i have read that ball pythons have excellent night vision and was wondering if that means they can see in total darkness without any light. in the wild nocturnal animals may have moonlight as a light source and i was thinking that maybe the absence of all light in a snake room could affect them in some way.

I don't have any sort of night light in the snake room. I might occasionally read late into the night in there, but I sleep in that room.

I don't use any light at all in the snake room when I'm not in there. Most of my snakes are in tanks so I love to hang out in the snake room at night with a dim light on and see them all out at the same time. They don't seem to be affected by dim light or flashlights, but if I turn on a brighter light many of them head back for their hides.

I keep my herp room dark to simulate the natural environment as much as possible.

I'll turn on a light when necessary otherwise I tend to leave it with whatever natural light there might be.
