    feeding young BP rats
I was just wondering how many of you start out feeding pinkie rats to baby bp's? I know that the breeder that I got my bp from started with pinkie mice, but I haven't heard whether or not pinkie rats would do the job also. Has anyone tried this out? It would make it a lot easier rather than switching over to rats later. Just a thought.

Most of the balls I hatched this year did not readily start on rat pinks. There was one who did and she is the fastest growing and largest hatchling I have at over 400 grams.

I got a new female last week, she is about 350 grams, and I have been offering her small adult mice which is about the size of what she should eat, and she wouldnt touch them. Today I offered a rat pup, which is bigger than a pinky, it has sparse hair but its eyes are still closed, and she nailed it hard. I guess it just depends on what the breeder was feeding your snake before you got it.

I start with mouse hoppers, the extra movement gets the feeding response going early; try to get them switched over to rat pinks by their 4th or 5th meal.

I start them off with rat pinks(I breed rats) or mouse hoppers(not pinks), whatever they will take.
