    genetics question
    Just want to make sure my Basic understanding of dominant genetics in ball pythons is correct. I realize that there is no way to predict exactly what you are going to get.... just humor me, and tell me if this sounds right.

    So, If I am breeding a Male Spider ball python and a Female Normal ball python... and there are 8 eggs, because the normal has 2 normal genes, and the spider has both 1 normal and 1 spider gene... would the law of averages tell me that 2 of those eggs are likely to be spiders, and the other 6 would be normals without the spider gene at all?

    Again, I know the eggs can all be norms, or all spiders or any other combination... but is my BASIC understanding of this dominant trait correct?

    thanks,

    No, if you breed a Spider x Normal you will get 50% spider 50% normals. So if you had 8 eggs "Theortically" you should get 4 spiders and 4 normals. Here is a punnet square:

    n n

    S Sn Sn

    n nn nn

    Sn = Spider
    nn= normal
