African house snakes finally arrived!
Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
Awesome snakes! Are you planning on breeding them?
Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
Yes, indeed...wanna get some albinos to breed into the offspring of this pair eventually.
Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
They are a lot of fun... Those wiggly things are a trip. Just make sure not to touch their heads... They will bite you like no tommorow.
I have a friend who is breeding albinos. Cool things, they are! :D
Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
Here is an article that will save you untold grief as you progress in your Breeding Efforts.
Lamprophis maculatus
Beautiful Pair you have there. Feed em heavy and they should be up to breeding in under a year. The female should be 3-350 Grams before you breed her. On the male don't worry even if small he will be happy to breed at even six months of age.

Hey Jack,
I'm pretty sure these are browns, but had some doubts on if they were actually the dotteds or capes (I've actually been visiting your site for weeks now). Here's some close-up shots of the female. What do you think?

Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
The are 100% L. maculatus. To say a house snake is a "brown" is a about like calling a Kingsnake tri colored, true but meaningless. There are brown capensis, fuliginosus and maculatus, brown is not a species or even subspecies in Lamprophis just a color and nothing more.
In your female the eye lines and body pattern scream maculatus.
Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
Thanks, Jack. By brown, I did mean L. fuliginosus...I was just too lazy to find the correct spelling...lol. But regardless, you did answer my question. Thanks again.
Re: African house snakes finally arrived!
