My pick-up this weekend... little Vivianne (DUW!!!)

So, I went to the Indianapolis Reptile Show this weekend... I had plans to pick up a normal BP female to match-up with my normal boy. But no little BP chick was really standing out and catching my eye. So, of course I started looking at boas... And then I saw this girl:

She is 100% Nicaraguan BCI.

Blue and pink belly... it looks like she's in shed, but that's her natural coloring. It runs all the way up her stomach (she wouldn't hold still enough for me to get a photo):

I haven't had any experience with Nics, but if they are all like this girl... I think I may be in LOVE :love: She has yet to hiss, doesn't strike, but once she's tired of being out and about, she lets you know it: she curls into an S-shape and gives you that evil eye, lol. And I can't get over how little she is! My boy Gwydion, who is just a baby himself, makes this girl look like a newborn.

All in all, I gotta say, she's quickly becoming the favorite in my collection (don't tell the other kids)!

Oh, and in sticking with names from Authurian legend, her name is Vivianne, sister to Morgaine of the Fairies. I call her Viv for short :D

She looks great! You can never have too many nics. I'm up to 3 nic girls, only one if which is calm, the other 2 are the sisters of satan!!!

Beautiful little girl! Nics sometimes get a bad rap for being snappy and or hissy. To me it is mostly because they were a lot newer to the market and more were still being collected. Like most as more and more are captive bred and calm animals selected we are getting the typical laid back boa attitude out of them.

I saw one at the last Texas Reptile Show (not the NARBC) the little one they do like 7 times a year. He was MEAN sort of. Hissed and struck at you but never really bit. I picked him up and he raised hell :taz: Hissed and struck open mouth at my hand and even grazed the sides of teeth on my hand but would not bite. The owner (nice gal) did it first to show me it was all bluff.

I was a bit intimidated because it was about a 5 foot snake but after I did it I really kind of liked him. He was all show and no go.

Lol Jake I already love her! And I've only had her for around 24 hours :)

So far, no troubles whatsoever. No attitude, nothing. She has a better temperament than my BCI babies.

I didn't think I would go for Nics... I normally like the lighter and brighter boas. But there were three girls to choose from, and she was the darkest. I just couldn't get over the blue in her sides, I guess.

For the moment, she's exclusively a pet. But she may end up with a b/f someday...

I love Nics...she's lovely! =)

I just noticed last night that her nose is completely black, fading to lighter down her face. It makes her look like she dipped her nose in ink :P

Beautiful! I keep seeing all these gorgeous snakes everyone got in arlington, makes me feel like everyone went to a party but I wasn't invited!:rofl:

Lol... well, don't feel too bad. I didn't go to Arlington :) I was stuck here in Indianapolis. But still, pretty good show. There were a LOT of people there.

So Viviane just showed her true colors... just went in to change water bowls and she came flying up outta her tub at me! LOL, seriously scared the bejesus right outta me! She's so tiny but MAN did she develop an attitude the last couple of days!

She snapped at me a few times, ramming her nose into the side of the tub. I put the hook in there to move her around, and she hissed at it, bluffed a couple times... she started calming down a bit, stopped hissing and striking after a couple minutes, enough so that I could change the water bowl. But I wasn't about to stick my hand in there and pick her up!

LOL... who knew such a tiny little thing could make me jump so high. My stomach's in knots! :rofl:

Love her!

I've been thinking of grabbing a couple nic girls for some time now. Nice catch!
