The Mite Situation.

Once again, everything has been DOUSED with Provent A Mite, Furio just ate a mouse and I'll be putting him back in his tank in about an hour. I baked all of his wood hides and treated those as well. Any other suggestions?

Are you saying that you tried the Provent-a-Mite once before and the mites came back?

I use Reptile Relief on the snake, this kills the live mites but does not kill the eggs. Use the PAM as directed in the enclosure for the eggs when they hatch. Mites gone! Make sure you treat all your snakes because the mites will find their way from snake to snake.

Where can I get this "Reptile Relief"?

Personally, I'd stick with the Provent-a-Mite. I've used Reptile Relief and was not impressed. It would probably work fine in conjunction with the Provent-a-Mite.

My advice to you is to simplify your enclosure until you have taken care of the mite problem. Give your snake paper towel bedding, a bowl, and two hides until all the mites are gone. Then you can use decorations again... otherwise you are just giving the mites more places to hide and possibly escape the treatment sprays.

Reptile Relief can be purchased anywhere you can get PAM or at most pet stores, just pay a little more at pet stores. RR kills mites but not eggs. I have had one bout with mites, I used RR on the snake, while the snake was in a seperate container with the RR on him I used the PAM in the enclosure as directed. After enclosure is dry rinse snake off and return to enclosure. ALL mites are DEAD. PAM will stay active in the container for one month, any eggs left on the snake will die as soon as they hatch from the PAM, NO MORE MITES! I have used this method myself for 100% removal and have helped several others use the same method for 100% removal of mites. One thing to keep in mind is mites can travel from one snake to another, treat all snakes in the collection.
