Retarded BP - Lazy coils and eats butt first

I've never seen anything like it. It throws a half coil (granted f/t but still) and then proceeds to eat butt first. I know snakes aren't the brightest creatures, but is this thing retarded? Opinions please.

Edit: Correction. He isn't eating it, just dragging it around his tub on the grand tour.

Maybe he's not very hungry? If thats the only odd thing you have noticed I don't know if anything is wrong with him. If you have noticed other odd behaviour a vet checkup could be useful but if not as long as he eventually eats it then maybe hes just lazy. Thats my thoughts, I have not had any experience with behaviour like that.

My concern is everytime I've fed him lately he gets lazier and lazier. Like he's started to realize he doesn't actually have to put any effort into "killing" his prey. Guess that shouldn't even be a concern, but I never thought I'd see the day I'd witness a lazy snake. :tears:

ever since my montana went to f/t she hasnt even coiled she just gulps it down

my male is pretty lazy! his first shed he just took off his head! i had to peel him like a banana. he has eaten butt first, and once took like 20 mins trying to find the head to eat the poor rat, i had to help him by moving the rat into a better position (kiddies don't try this at home!). also 2 feedings ago he didn't finish the job on a rat and when he started to swallow it it came back alive and he had to re-constrict. goober snakes are fun!

All my guys and girls get f/t and they all tag and coil. I make sure the rats are really thawed and smooshy and then leave the open bag o rats in the rack/cage area for an hour or so; that way the snakes know what's coming!!
I blast the rats with the hair dryer to raise the temp on the head and tummy. I hold them on their napes with the hemostats and do the zombie rat dance. The snakes tag, coil and eat; with gusto!

Well last night I took it out, stuck it near the heat lamp and tried "one last time" to get him to eat it. And he nailed it like it was his worst enemy then proceeded to eat his fallen foe.

Snakes are weird.

Yea mine tried to eat butt first one time.. took him 30 minutes to realize it was a lost cause and he finally turned it around the right way. Silly :snake: :-)
