    Sudden wierd behavior
Hey guys. Lately, my normal male has been really snappy. Last week, I went past his cage and he struck at the glass. Then last night, I was trying to take him out and the second my finger past his hide he bit me. When I do pick him up, he seems a little defensive, but is fine when he's in my hand. All the husbandry is correct with temps, hides, and all that stuff. I did change his feeding schedule a week or two ago. When I first got him, I fed him a hopper every 5 days. Now, he gets a small adult mouse every 7 days and he is about 150g right now. Could it be because he is getting hungry? Do I need to feed him more or up the prey size? I didn't think so because 150g is still pretty small. Thanks.

is the prey leaving a noticeable lump in his belly after you feed him? if it isnt, he probably isnt full. i had this happen to me with my girl before i realised how fast they grew. i did switch her to a 1x a week feeding schedule, but that was before she outgrew her current prey size . again . she seems to do that alot. now i just double up to keep her happy. i notice she does seem extra "track-ey" and strikey when she's not full.

hope he calms down for ya!

My girl just hit 200g, loaded and she gets small adult mice (around 25g). You might want to get a few more opinions on that prey size. Or, do a search on prey size. There are some pretty good posts about that subject. I've heard that you don't want too much of any of a lump. But, I could be wrong.

Could she be coming up on a shed? I understand that they can have an attitude when they go into a shed cycle.

    Either way, GOOD LUCK!

How often are you handling him? Too much handling can up the aggression some

An adult mouse is more than enough for a 150g snake. Saying your husbandry is correct doesn't help us. Aggressive can be caused by numerous things, mostly husbandry related.

Cut back on handling if you are handling too much. Also if he is striking at the glass it is probably because he doesn't feel secure. Tanks will do that, along with insufficient hides.

I just wanted to comment on your sig. That's so true, I let Vincent Vega sit in the feed tank with the rat in a paper bag so he can sniff it. As soon as I drop the rat back in the tank, out of the bag he goes right up to it and takes it out.. It's exciting!!

I don't handle him very much, and he has 2 hides. Doesn't really matter, my RBI rack arrives tomorrow and he hasn't been wierd these last few days.
