    pre-scenting
Do you think folding up a paper towel and placing it in each bag that has a thawing out rat, then 30 minutes before feeding them place the pieces of paper towels in each bin that has a snake, would be a good way to pre-scent and get them fired up to eat?

I just can't really think of a good way to pre-scent with a closed rack set up. I don't have rat bedding since I do not breed them myself.

If you have any better suggestions let me know.

Just put rats in the same room, they will smell them through the tub. Their sense of smell is much better than ours:gj:

I do this too! I put them next to my racks after they have thoroughly thawed out and are smooshy! We humans then eat dinner and then the kids do the dishes and then we feed our hungry and tempted snakes!! I've not had any 'failing to feed' issues and all of my snakes eat on Thursday night. :D

I just wasn't sure if they could smell them that well when they are just in the room. Thanks.

You could let them thaw in the room with the snakes.

Ya well I individually bag them saturday night and put them in the fridge to thaw out. Then sunday night I take them out and give a quick warm water soaking before I feed them.

this is def true. I swear if my snakes could wag their tails they'd be doing it in anticipation when I'm feeding one and the other is waiting...

I just elevate my lamp and put a thawed mouse on a paper towel under it, sitting on top of the tank. This pre-scents and warms it nicely:) With a rack this wouldnt work i guess lol, but thawing near the tank as already mentioned should work.

What happens if the sanke hits the paper towel? Don't laugh the kid next door had that happen.
