OK folks welcome me in! After several years of soul searching about whether I was willing to take on 30 years of caring for a Red Tail that will probably hit 8 feet I decided I was. Up until now my only boa has been a Dumerils that I love but I have always been attracted to Red Tails they are just so beautiful.

I made the decision last month that if I found one that "spoke to me" at the NARBC I was willing to do it. This is the one that hooked me. I got him from Winding Creek Herps and he had a whole bunch of them that were about 21 months old and healthy as heck at about 3ish feet long. I opted for a male figuring it would be a bit easier to care for as they get less bulky. He did tell me that all his adults are in the 8 foot range so I should have a big boy in a few years.

What struck me on these boas of his is just how stunning they are for a "normal". They are such a light blonde they almost look hypo. I think sometimes we are over morphed, this seems to be about as perfect as a boa can be all direct from Mother Nature. Check him out,

To give some scale the water dish is not one those small tiny ones but one size up about the size you would use to feed an medium sized dog.

This guy is real friendly no aggression at all. The breeder doesn't handle the babies much so he is a bit squirmy and likes to travel a lot while you hold him but I figure he will calm down. He is settling in now and I am resisting the temptation to handle him until he has a week, then a meal and another week.

Anyway I am really stoked to finally have taken the leap.

No not separate rooms but separate quarters for sure. I am not that concerned being I know the source of both animals. Certainly they will not come in direct contact with each other (or any other members of the family) for a long time. I keep sanitizer in my snake room and always use it going snake to snake and have never had a problem.

He is doing well the guy said he had been a week since a feed so after two days of rest I offered him a mouse. No interest it seemed, I left the room and went back in an hour he was on the hot side snoozing with a nice bump in him. Always nice when the seller says "ya he is on PK" and it ends up being true. Unlike my JCP I won't have to go get rats for this one every week.:taz:

Congrats! He's a real beauty...welcome to boa club.

The first rule of boa club is that we don't talk about boa club.
The second rule of boa club is that...we clean up lots of pee. :P
