Does a reptile petting zoo exist?
I was thinking about how much I would like to handle or "pet" a reticulated python, a green anaconda, a burmese, etc. I know we'll never have these in our own house. So how can I have the chance just to be close up to one and touch it? Does a reptile petting zoo exist anywhere on the east coast? Just trying to live my dream w/out owning my dream. :D

    Thanks.

There is a reptile zoo in Ontario called Reptilia. They just got a King Cobra, too! They even have full grown Nile Crocks.

I know you can go there for feeding day and watch the animals eat. I also know that you can reserve a Birthday Room and get a live reptile show, complete with petting. I don't think they bring our Rectics though.

Our local reptile store lets people hold almost anything in there. The only exceptions I can think of are the Goliath Bird Eaters and the anacondas (well I know a couple who have but they usually only get taken out on cleaning day- not the friendliest sort).
What can be handled are burms, retics, various boas/corns/pythons, alligators, turtles/tortoises, tarantulas, scorpions, geckos, beardies etc...
Last year at the pet expo I held Smiley for about an hour during a reptile educational show (boy did she get heavy!). Smiley is a 7 yr old american alligator that they do educational shows with, tame as can be.
I have gotten to interact with some awesome animals that I would never own.

If you're ever in Connecticut...we'd be happy to let you pet our burms! :)

There's a really cool Reptile Emporium place in Gatlinburg, TN somewhere. Wasn't a petting zoo persay, but they do have shows where they take out different stuff and pass it around.

That King Cobra is just amazing! I didn't even know about this place and I drive through Vaughn at least once a month!

A good friend of mine worked at reptilia for 4 years as a zoo keeper. When ever I need an extra opinion I always ask him. He is always trying to get me to go visit reptilia so we can check out what new additions they have. They have some of canada's largest venomous snakes but I doubt you can hold them lol. They just recently added a new king cobra exhibit:) (as mentioned...lol)
