I don't have any pics of it but i know they can get it from laying on a heat pad that is too hot and doesn't have enough material in between the bottom where the heat pad it and where your snakes lays. Just make sure that the heat pad is not on the inside of the cage, thats why a lot of breeders don't like heat rocks. If you think your snake might have it post some pics here and I'm sure me or someone else will be able to tell you.

awe! that would suck. I would say if there is anything about your snake that you question and know you cannot help with yourself, a vet visit doesnt hurt. It isnt too pricey for a checkup and if meds are needed, they arent too expensive either. My vet bill for a checkup when i thought my bp had mouth rot cost me $60 to get checked and $20 for his meds and needles. It was way worth it to feel assured that he was healthy whether i was right about the mouth rot or not. If you are just curious about what it looks like and do not suspect you bp has it then the picture above it a perfect example. I think milder cases of it can appear in a number of ways, most of which are redness or discoloration of the scales. Also as far as I know scale rot may not be caused by external environment only, it can happen from the inside out, or at least that is what i have heard.
Thats my 2 cents, correct me if anything seems inaccurate:)

    Re: Scale Rot
Scale Rot is NOT caused by a snake getting burnt from a heater.

Scale Rot is from a snake laying in a wet/way too humid enclosure. Just an http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...ticons/fyi.gif

    Re: Scale Rot
you can get digital hygrometers (combo with a thermometer) from wal-mart or other major home hardware places. Get one with an indoor outdoor measurement so you can check two temps at once, theyre about $12-15. Ive heard of bps getting scale rot when they urinate on the UTH and it is not cleaned up and the snake lays in it. Of course this would be avoided by spot cleaning your enclosure on a daily basis and entire cleaning monthly, that is what I do at least.
