You know, it's all well and good to list weights and lengths but I know I can't be the only one to whom numbers mean very little till they see the herp in person or see an adult of the particular herp pictured with a person (yay Reptile Expos!). For some reason, it's just easier for me to wrap my visual mind around that than numbers. Sometimes it sounds bigger or smaller to me than it is when I see it in person!

So, in the interest of folks like me, I thought it could be useful to have a thread with pics of adult herps pictured with a human being so we can have a good idea of how big they actually are. :) Very helpful for people considering certain species to know what they are or aren't in for. Also, with visuals next to the size numbers, it helps us to have in mind around what those numbers mean.

I know people vary in size and shape (as evidenced by my brother and I below, he's a bit over 6ft) but I still find it useful for a general idea. I have some pics from expos too, but I don't know the numbers for those particular animals to help people compare so gonna leave those species to folks who own them. I encourage folks with the giants especially to post here!

Not sure as Gomez is considered an adult or not yet? So here's some for sure adult girls!

Adult Female Blue Beauty. About 8ft 3lbs.

Female Jeweled Lacerta (her tail is about the same length as her body, maybe a bit longer) 1ft 6in long, no idea what she weighs though, I need a scale still.

Hey Shelby. I think I've asked before. But I forget.

How old is that blood girl?
Any idea of her weight? And what your feeding her?

My guy is shedding right now. Which seems like it takes forever!! And I'm putting his age at around a year. And he's at about 2630 grams as of today.

So a little over 5.5 pounds.

Thank you, Shelby! The conda is a perfect example of what I'm talking about too, even a male I imagined to be much much bigger and chunkier than that! And an adult milk I imagined shorter!

In the picture my female blood was about 2 years old I think.. I don't know what her weight was then though. Actually I lost all my records when I switched hard drives on my computer.. need to try and get those back.

She eats a large rat every two weeks.. and she's around 5' long.
