Finally! The first lizard I ever wanted!
The Tegu sparked my interest in all herps. A year later he's mine. My new Argentine Black & White Tegu, named ThunderCat.

He's currently on 50/50 Cypress mulch and sphagnum moss, He ate 3 pinkies for me, a few blueberries and a strawberry. I only can get the temp to like 92 which i am gonna need a bigger heatpad i think or is 92-100 good?

Thundercat? Awesome!
I too am determined to get one as soon as I can properly care for it. Best of luck with him, and try getting some clearer pictures when you have a chance!
Re: Finally! The first lizard I ever wanted!
They like a basking spot. Check out a good caresheet which will help you set up the proper temps in the easiest way.
It can be hard to try to get those set up just right when you don't have the instructions and tips. I think there might be a caresheet here, if not thetegu site also has good caresheets on Arg B&W tegus.
I have one, getting to be adult. They get big.
Re: Finally! The first lizard I ever wanted!
I've read a ton of caresheets, I have everything good except I had a BTS in mind for my next pickup but I grabbed this guy at the expo yesterday instead. Nothing's open today(stupid family day, what kind of stat. holiday is that?) so I need to wait untill tuesday to get stronger heatpad and a UVA/UVB. I'm assuming that a basking spot doesn't have to be a heat lamp just a place with the required temp. so hopefully someone could clarify that for me before I buy another pad or lamp. He ate again today, a few doz. crix didn't have his fruits and veggies yet though so I'd say hes doing good. I have handled him a few times because he seems to not mind it (eating and still being active). Don't call me stupid but there isn't much info on acclimation so I don't know if I should leave him be for a while. I did disturb him in his hide(big no-no) twice yesterday and once today when I took him to his feeding bin but I won't be anymore(unless once a day to go to the feeding bin is alright, opinions?) Other then that He's awesome :)
ps I have a horrible camera
Perry.
