    thermostat with multiple racks question
I currently have a 3 tub, 32 quart rack with side heat. I am about to get a reptile basics cb70 3 tub rack with belly heat. I plan to put the 32 quart rack on top of the larger new rack. I am also about to get a helix to replace my crap thermostat.

So, my question. I am guessing that I will need two thermostats. One for the 32 quart rack, and one for the other. am I wrong?

Yes you will either need 2 thermostats or one thermostat that has 2 outputs. I have a herpstat pro, which has 4 outputs. I run one breeder female rack, one breeder male rack, one incubator, and lighting all with the same thermostat. there is also another herpstat model, which I think is herpstat 2, that has 2 outputs. So you would just need to buy one of those to control both of your racks. Hope this helps...

if youre using identical heating elements and want identical temperatures from each then you should be able to use one thermostat for both racks.

since youre stacking a side heat rack on top of a belly heat rack im not too sure how the location of the heating elements, even if the elements are identical, will affect the resulting temperatures.

a great place to buy thermostats from online is: www.beanfarm.com
