Urgent Loose Snake
Well, my gf and I noticed one of our snakes missing tonight. He's about a year old now. He got out sometime last night. He was in his water when we went to bed and we didn't notice him missing until she went to take him out about an hour ago. Any suggestions for finding him or getting him to come out?

Re: Urgent Loose Snake
Start close to the enclosure and circle out gradually. Check under any low laying stuff (couches, chairs etc). If your room is a bit coolish check the warmest darkest places first...
I found mine today hiding in between a frying pan and a lid in our oven drawer after her night out (only about 17 feet from her tub)... So be thorough :) We were lucky, five minutes of looking....
If you have hardwood try spreading out some flour, or setting up a warm hide somewhere for him. Even try leaving out a FT rat or something.

Re: Urgent Loose Snake
I've checked our room pretty thoroughly, but no luck. We're going to leave the lid on his tub off and I took out his old tank and turned the heat lamp back on and put a mouse in there. It's close to his feeding time so maybe the mouse in his old tank will entice him to come back. I'll keep you updated, anymore advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Urgent Loose Snake
I once set one of my younger ones in the feed box on the diningroom table... I went in the next room to grab a beer, One thing led to another, and about an hour later i realized that I had forgot she was out... and sure enough she was no where to be found. I FRANTICLY searched the entire large room. every nook, every cranny. I was litterally about to cry. Then about 3 hours later my fiance found her. She was still on the dining room table! we didn't think to look inside tube of the paper towls sitting on the table!!! So Just use this a a lesson when looking. think of every imagionable tight space that you would never expect them to go in.

So... still can't find him. I have no idea where to look. We took all the furniture out of the bedroom and still nothing. I don't know what else to do. I have his old tank sitting out in the living room with the heat lamp over it, I also have his tub on the floor with the UTH plugged in. I guess all I can do is wait and keep looking. How long until I should really start worrying? Tomorrow is feeding day, and he's never skipped a meal..

Re: Urgent Loose Snake
put a live mouse in the tank. make sure there is nothing that the mouse can get on to jump out. sooner or later the snake will be in his tank under the hide, or the mouse will go missing... that gives you a couple more months to find him alive! do you have any tanks you aren't using??? If so, set them up in different rooms with UTH and hides. put live mice in them as well.

Re: Urgent Loose Snake
I read once before that you look everywhere that you KNOW HE CAN'T POSSIBLY BE, and then look again. I had a ball come up missing about 15 years ago. I eventually gave up the search, and figured she was long gone. About 9 months later, I went into the guest room to pull a blanket out of the closet, and there she was!!! Hungry and thirsty, but alive!!!! Look for them to be wrapped around couch legs, up under the end tables, just anywhere you would never EXPECT them to be...

Re: Urgent Loose Snake
thank you for all your help. He turned up early this morning when we got back from a friends. He was crawling under the computer desk heading towards the bathroom where I keep there mice. My g/f was estatic when she found him, but unfortunately it looks like he has mites now...
