I heard that this will be a prequel (taking place while he was still human), but that Robert Englund WILL play Freddy.

That's what they were saying...but latest info seems to be that since it will be a kind of re-do (i.e. not wes craven) kinda like they did with Halloween, that Robert won't be playing Freddy.

The plans for a 'prequal' were trashed thank god. All that would have been is a terrible LMN type drama about a child murderer.
It seems to be the case that they are planning another sequel. At this time I can't say I'm thrilled about no Englund but almost anything is better then having Rob Zombie touch it. He needs to back far far away from the directors chair, better yet, give a public apology for the garbage he's produced.

I heard that A Nightmare on Elm Street was based on a true story and that the ghosts of the children slain haunt anyone who views the movies that glorify their death.

Of course, I heard that when I was in grade 4, so I respectfully submit the information with a forward disclaimer that it may not be genuine. ;)

But in seriousness, I don't like horror or gore movies, but for some reason I've always liked the Freddy movies. The first one I watched was Dream Warrior, and it just got me hooked.

Hmmm... but if the real Freddy isn't going to be in it, what's the point?

Ah I love horror movies. Not the gore but the whole atmosphere.
