Good weight?

Whats a good weight for a 6 male BCI? Ive had mine for about 6 months or so maybe less and shortly after I got him he weighed 3Kg. Is that kind of light, I think he looks a little skinny. His old owner told me he was eating a medium rat every 3 weeks. He now gets a medium/large rat every 10-14 days and is always there waiting. Even waits when I feed the rest of snakes, every 7 days.

A Med Rat every 3 weeks is way to little for a 6 foot BCI. Feeding every 14 days you could bump his meal size up to 1 pound Gunie Pigs, or rabbits. If you want to stick to rats, Ide be looking in the XXL-XXXL range.

Sorry I'm not sure what 3Kg is in pounds. :confused:

3Kgs comes out to about 6 1/2-7 lbs. Hes gettin a rat as big around as he is usually every 10 days but sometimes ill go 2 weeks.

Can you post a few pictures of him?

Ide say he is a few pounds under weight, but nothing to worry about.

Doesn't look skinny to me. Boas look a little thinner than BPs... they aren't going to have that round look that BPs do, but rather keep a "boxy" shape. The tales in the tail: if it's nice and thick, that means you've gotta healthy boa on your hands.

Boas have a tendency to run to fat... they will eat anything and everything you put in front of them. And they will eat it three times a week if you let them. They can become obese if allowed.

I feed my big ten pound girl a large to jumbo rat every three weeks and she's great... there are a few breeders that even feed their babies every couple of weeks instead of every week, building up muscle structure.

That's a good looking kid you got there, btw! Very pretty!

Wouldn't worry about feeding any more than you are now. He looks perfect!
Don't listen to the guinea pig or rabbit comment. Guinea pigs are not boa food and no need to bump up to rabbits. My female who is in the 6-7' range and about 15 lbs eats a 1 lb+/- rat every 2 weeks. Rather keep the boas growing slow and muscular than too fast where the develop excess fat. Boas are not meant to be retics. They seem to thrive when they are raised slower and kept thinner. A fat boa looks miserable, I can tell from the pics that he isn't underweight at all.
