thinking about feeding two mice tonight
My bp is twenty inches long and about as thick around as a golf ball. I am considering feeding him two mice tonight, since the last two feedings I could not see a bulge after he was done. Is it better to feed one big meal or like a small rat or two adult mice thanks

If I am understanding the others correctly, they say that your prey should be no larger than the larger part of your snake. So, you really shouldn't see too much of a bulge. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong.

my bp is only slightly larger than yours and we feed her 1 small adult mouse every 7 days. We used to feed her fuzzies before I found out that wasn't enough. Since I had a couple fuzzies left over (before going to small adult), we thought we would offer two fuzzies but both times we did, she refused. I guess she is a one serving bp. The rest of the fuzzies wound up the garbage and since then we have been feeding the small adult mice with no problem.

You didn't say what size mouse you are feeding, but I'll assume it is what rodentpro calls a "large adult mouse" (they don't have small or medium adult mice, so it is really just a regular adult mouse).

To answer your actual question, I don't believe it matters whether you offer one larger prey or 2 smaller ones, if the total weight of the meal is equal. However, a small rat is more than double an adult mouse on average. A weanling rat might be a more appropriate step up, if you want to go with rats.

Does your snake act hungry before his regularly scheduled feeding day? Or does your snake stay in hunting mode for a while after eating instead of going to his hide to digest?

Just guessing based on your description of the size of your BP and comparing to mine, your BP might be about ready for larger meals. However, I had some extra hoppers in the freezer so I didn't go up to 2 adult mice yet.

its really left to your judgment but make sure that the food items are not to big. no one can have you explain the size of your animal and judge what you should or should not feed it, you have to look at it and decide for yourself. two smaller items may end up being to much and there is no reason to over feed your animal especially if you are feeding every week. you do not want your animal to regurge its food. that can cause all kinds of problems even death. what ever you decided just be careful.

you could try to switch him to baby rats, less stink and less hassle, maybe rat pups for a snake thats 20 inches, pretty soon he'll be on small rats
