Update & Question about pattern
Hi! It has been awhile since I have been around. I had several questions and you guys were so good about helping me out. Since then my bp has gotten so much bigger and we have had a successful switch from mice to rats. :) I have a question regarding his pattern. Is there a name or how would you describe a pattern that does not have alien eyes? He has the typical pattern he just only has a couple of the black dots or alien eyes (I think I have heard them referred to that here.) Thanks. :snake:

In the side pattern, many wild type ball pythons have two dots in each side pattern, which looks like an alien.
If they are lacking the dots, then that's called reduced pattern.
This snake has dots (alien eyes) in the side patterns:

This snake is reduced pattern:

Thank you! I thought it was referred to as reduced but I was unsure. He looks like the bottom picture that rabernet has. I wish I could say I knew about snakes before I got him but I learn as I go. But thanks to you guys he is healthy and happy and beautiful. :D
Re: Update & Question about pattern
I had to go look at Foster since I couldn't remember if she had 'alien eyes' or not. I guess I couldn't remember for good reason! LOL Her dots are stacked instead of side by side and even then it's not in every position, most are without the black dots. But, because she still has the dots, that still just makes her a normal, right?
