    Het caramel markers?
    Hi

I recently purchased a male het caramel albino, and while I was browsing some threads, I read one in which the guy wanted us to guess the possible het on a beautifully marked snake. I believe he said the snake was PH Pied, and it got me to thinking.

Are there any "markers" for het caramels? I know that no markers are 100%, but it would be interesting to learn about and see nonetheless.

    Thanks in advance! :gj:

I have a pair of definite Hets, I bought 3 66% Poss Hets, and I hatched 6 50% Poss Hets last year, and I have not been able to notice any markers on any of those snakes.

    I hope that helps,

    Thanks.

I didn't think there would be any, but no harm in asking! :)

I once heard from someone who had double het caramels and something else (don't remember what now) that claimed his animals had abnormally ruby eyes if you examined them with a flashlight. I've never heard this from anyone else and the guy that made that claim has since gone into hiding so I wouldn't count on it being universal with het caramels. But still might be worth looking into if you have known hets and known not hets to compare. I think I remember reading about a hamster mutation where gene the gene carriers could be identified that way.
