Cal King hasn't eaten in MONTHS help?

I got an adult 50/50 cal king last year, he won't eat F/T, although we have tried.
He had been eating very well, and then at the end of Oct, he stopped eating.
It is now Feburary, we have changed his tank, to a larger one.
I am waiting a week for him to get used to it and will try again.
I have offered live prey every week or two, he just isn't interested.
He did hibernate for a few weeks, but other than that, he has been active in the evenings, and curled up in a hide during the day.
When should I start to worry?
He is in good weight and did shed recently.

I generally stop feeding my adults around the first of Nov. and leave them down until the end of Feb. or middle of Mar. depending on the weather.

How big is yours? Where do you live? Got any pics?

I wouldn't be worried yet. Me may not be real interested in eating for another month or more.

Basically, worrying about something you can't control is pointless. He either will eventually eat or he'll die. Keep offering him live food, try smaller than usual food. Feed him once it's nighttime, in the dark w/o turning on any bright lights. Chances are it's just a winter thing... he'll come out of it and start acting like a kingsnake again :)

haha great advice! well you obviously can't control the snake but you can control his husbandry. lets try to help him eat instead of letting him die, shall we??

you said you just moved him to a larger tank. what size is the new tank and what size was the old one? what is the age and size of the snake? what were the temperatures in his old enclosure and the temperatures in the new one?

if temperatures are held at an appropriate and constant level then the snake would not "hibernate" and most likely not go off feed.

as long as he is not losing weight then you dont need to worry. you need give us specific information so that we can help you better. for now i would just double check temps and humidity, make sure he has enough hiding spots and keep handling to a minimum until he eats for you.

I had a female that was a little over a year old, she wasn't very thick when I got her so I was a little worried. I cooled her for a few weeks and then brought her back up to temp and she ate great. How low were the temps when you cooled him?

You can try putting in a container that is kinda small for the snake and covering with a shirt or towel. It worked for me in the past. I think it's the combination of complete darkness and boredom that does it;)
