Re: The foe that is flexwatt
What's weird is I had everything running perfect. Added the extra piece of flex to the other tub. Let it settle in for the snake coming tuesday. Put a thermometer in it and the the floor read 97!!!!
While the other tubs read 92 to 93. That's why I'm wondering if it has a burn in period. It read 5 degrees higher in the tub with the new flexwatt.
Hopefully someone has some pointers.
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
do you have it hooked up to a thermostat?, if so set the probe on the top shelf and try that
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
Id nothing works you could always regulate how much substrate you use. Add more for the 97 and less for the 93s.
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
Well its a helix thermostat so it should all be pretty much about the same.
And yeah I moved the probe to the hot tubs felxwatt. And it immediately read 97 on the thermostat probe.
So for some reason that piece of tape is burning 5 degrees hotter.
I'd rather not add more substrate as that just helps if they're on top. But they can always get down to the tub floor.
Then shizzzaaaammmmmmm!!!!
Shed get burned.
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
Hi,
Are all the peices of flexwatt the same length/rating?
Have you tried putting all the acu-rite probes in the same spot to see if there are any differences between the readings?
If nothing else woirks its possible to put a rheostat in the link for the overheating peice of flexwatt to dial it back a bit - it isn't elegant as solutions go but it will work.

Re: The foe that is flexwatt
yeah they're all the same size flexwatt. i may do that with the dimmer. i've got a spare one laying around.
its just weird how one is burning hotter than all the other ones.
maybe ill buy a tempgun from rich and see if its just the thermometers that are out of whack. that or just switch a few of em around.
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
I think this is what Del said, but make sure you don't have 4" for the old tape and 3" for the new tape. I think they also make a new 4" - 6watt/foot tape. Make sure that all the tape you are using is either 3" or or it's 4", make sure the new piece has the same energy specs as your old stuff.
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
Nope. All same size flexwatt. 11 inch continuous element from reptile basics.
All 18 inches long.
Re: The foe that is flexwatt
some people dont use 11 in is what ive read
because of the same issues ur dealing with
