A Dream? Who removes their males....
    Good Morning all!

Well I woke up and first thing I did was go to my snake room and check on all my animals to make sure they are all there and happy. :)

Well a couple of my males I have been trying to breed arent feeding right now. And I am use to that this time of the year. But I was looking at them and thinking of something. Now I dont know if I have read about it here before, or if it was just a crazy thought in my dream but....

How many of you remove your male from the females they are breeding and move them to a completely different room away from the females to get them to start to feed again? Does anyone do this? Or do your male just eventually start feeding closer towards spring? ....Or did I dream of this.... :D

    Josh,

All my males are eating, whether they are breeding or not. I haven't moved them from their normal locations.

Wow, well I would worry about my animals but they did the same thing last year. My males that Im not breeding are all feeding like pigs. But my males I AM breeding are acting like they are too distracted that there are females around them (the scent of a woman :D ) to worry about eating....

Ha I guess now the question is, does anyone else have males who go off feed while breeding?

All of my boys are eating too, even my 02 Yellow Ghost who is a proven breeder. Room temp stays between 78 and 80, hot spot is 85 for 16 hours and the rest of the time it is 95. They are quite happy campers :)

My mojave and spider males that I've been breeding are defnitely off feed, not worried though, it's normal, that's why they say to bulk your male up a little before the season starts. Some eat, some dont, my male albino is still eating and so is the het ghost so it's just matter of how much they really love the ladies... If the snake looks too thin to be off feed then thats another story. I'd try to snap a snake like that out of it, the breeding spell that is, probably by cleaning him and his tub completely (including the rood of his enclosure since it's a rack and she probably rubbed up against it and end the breeding trials for the season asap..It's a judgement call, you seem like you know your snakes..if they're not too skinny then I'd say "Go on with the chlorophyll!" B.M. lol! good luck!
