How do you know if your python is asleep?
I was wondering if there is a way to know if a snake is sleeping?:snake:
Re: How do you know if your python is asleep?
Usually they're curled up inside their hides and invisible to outside viewing. But if you can see them...you can kind of tell by how utterly still they are. No head movement at all...no tongue flicking....and the pupils of their eyes will be slitted to a very fine line...kinda like a cat's might be in bright sunshine.

i've never noticed that their eyes look different when they sleep! but mine has really dark eyes so i wouldn't be able to tell if i tried! lol

I can tell because when I poke them or try to pick them up they spaz out.
That was a horrible joke.

also when they sleep their pupils are directed slightly downward as well as finely slitted.

It is true though, if they are sleeping, and perfectly still, usually they kinda jump when you touch them and awake them!

Ball pythons!? Hardly. Have you ever tried picking up a Tokay gecko while it's sleeping? That I would consider a spaz out. :rolleye2:
