If you raised your iguana without any contact with a male, the eggs are infertile. You can throw them away or make a chorizo and pepper omlette. If she was in with a male at some point you can candle them and look for veins.

Yep, female iguanas will often lay with or without a male...one of the hazards of owning female lizards. Candle the eggs for veins just in case she might have ever been around a male, but most likely they are infertile.

As for her eating.. hmm. Try her out with some of her favorite foods, and make sure you give her a good variety with slightly more calcium to make up for what the eggs took from her.

    Good luck!

yup, sometimes females will lay eggs with or without a male.they are infertile though. once i had one of my female tarantulas lay an eggsac even though i had never bred her.she had the eggsac with her for like a week, then im guessing she ate the eggs along with the sac of silk(good nutrition btw).so yeah keep offering foods, and make sure she gets plenty of vitamins and especially calcium.

what? it wasnt my snake it was my iguana.
oh and thank you guys for that. yeah she hasnt ever been around any other iguanas.so thats good. i cut one open looked like regular egg inside but there was no whites. but heres my question: the eggs were really soft and leathary. it almost seemed like fertile eggs that were almost ready to hatch. and i witnessed a couple come out so i know theyre not old. why were they so soft? is it because they were infertile? any ways thank you ahley for the internet hugs!:) much appriciated! and yes i did candle the eggs no viens. but the look on her face was so sad when i was taking the eggs out.:tears: but that was shortly followed by a hiss head bobing and a nasty bite. oyyy that hert really bad. it bled so much. the thing that sucks about iguana bites is that they not only hold onto you but the whip theyre heads aroung and cause crazy laserations. well thanks again. off to feed the iggmiesta.

Iggi Layed Eggs With Out A Mate! please respond some more.lol
i cut another egg and it was the largest one there but had all the same chatacteristics of all of the others. when i cut this one a small amount of blood came out. like i said she has never been around another iguana before. except when she was in the pet store. she was housed with other iguanas. but that was about 8 years ago. she was only like 2 inches or so so i figure it couldnt have happend there. or could it have and the sperm stayed inside of her for thos 7 or 8 years. i read that the sperm of the male iguana can stay within the female for quite sometime. but it didnt specify just how long that period of time was. so that was the only other time she has ever been with an iguana before. rite after she hatched. but theyre not of age to breed at that time right? hopefully not! so thats what worries me, the egg had a small amount of blood in it. could the rest of them be fertile? please respond.
