It's called euthenizing, and it's done with a CO2 or Nitrogen chamber, where inert gas is slowly released into a box with the mice until they go to sleep and then die.

The most humane way is to put them to sleep with CO2. There are a few stickies on how to do that.

As for storage, I believe most people agree that 8 months is good. That's assuming you are not pulling them out all the time to grab one or two. The constant little bit of thawing that takes place when you grab a mousicle decreases the life of the frozen mice. You will know, cuz they stink and get really nasty. If it's that way, I say 5 months tops.

You can avoid that by making single servings and just pull a bag and throw it in some water. No messing with the micesicles, just grab a weeks single bag and go.

Nope wouldn't think so. As freshly dead rodents being piled in a container together, they are likely to freeze pretty much in a solid block (that's my best guess). If you wanted to store them in a container you'd likely have to lay them out first, individually freeze them, then place them in the container afterwards. You'd want something that doesn't allow for trapped air however or you are going to have freezer burnt prey which will be quite nasty and a waste of your time.

That's not considered a humane way of euthenizing rodents.

    tks.

i do recall that question being brought up i think the answer to that is to buy small amounts of dry ice and then use what you need to...... and then have all sorts of fun lol

You would have better success I think if you buy a small paintball tank of CO2, or go to a welding supply store and buy canisters of CO2. No waste, and much easier to control the amount of CO2. Please, check out the stickies, they are very informative and well written on how to make a chamber.

And no, dont just freeze rats or mice, the only humane size for freezing are pinkies. They are not susceptable to CO2, and freezing them is considered the humane way of putting them down.
