Okay to breed a female 2 years in a row?
Does breeding every year exhaust a female too much or is it okay to breed her every year? One breeder told me once that females need a year to recover before breeding should be done again. Any truth to this?
Right now my lavender girl is at the same weight as before breeding last year. I intend to let her gain more weight to let her grow larger than what she was before last breeding. Now she is at about 530 grams and 3,5 years old. Still hasn't decided on whether or not to breed her in the spring.
Last summer she gave me 7 good eggs. The eighth egg got stuck inside of her and had to take her to the vet, who emptied the egg and gave her a shot of hormones to let the rest come out on its own. Is this common for a first time breeder or a sign of a problem in my female?

Some corns will go 2x per year. You can breed her again as long as she's big and healthy.

Hmm the one getting stuck worries me about breeding her ever again. When i was breeding corn snakes i bred them every year.Of course they regained the lost weight and then some.

Thanks guys for the advice! If she gains a good adult weight during the early spring I'll consider breeding this year. At least next year she gets a break though.
