    Where to place thermometer probe?
Got my Acu-Rite thermometer, I originally had the probe lying on top of the substrate, as soon as Irwin went into his warm hide, the temp dropped about 20 degrees, probably because he moved it.

Where would be a good place to put the probe to get an accurate reading, but somewhere where the snake will not move it?

I place mine right next to the hide, but not in it. I used to put it the probe inside, but I got sick of my BP unloading everything inside him on the probe...

LoL, but what I have noticed, the temp inside the hide is different then the temp outside the viv.

I'm tired of him moving it around. Am I just being paraniod?

That's because the UTH has hotter spots. For instance, on my UTH if I move 3 inches off the center the temperature may drop 3-5 degrees.

I just want to get a good accurate reading from inside his hide without him moving the probe around every time he gets in his hide.

Also, the warm side of his viv is not nearly as warm as it should be. Its at 70F right now, even when I put a lamp on it it doesn't get above 74F.
