    Pet boa pulled from fire
    Hi everyone,

I just read this article in my local newspaper. I thought it was great to read about an instance where a herp received such good care in the midst of a home tragedy. The newspaper had a picture too, but it is not in the online article.

    Pet Boa Pulled From Fire

    From the article:
Firefighters found the snake in a room that wasn't directly affected by the flames.
Because the snake needs a warm climate to survive, firefighters kept the snake inside its glass home.
When power to the heavily damaged home was turned off, firefighters set up a generator to keep the heat light directly on the snake.

I'm going to send that Fire Department a big kudos. If you'd like to do likewise, you can reach them at:

Yeah, its terrible the dog died, but at least they recognized the boa as a life needing to be saved!

What annoyed me about that was stupid "rescuer" then coming along, taking the boa out of the warmth outside into the cold and tossing it in a metal cage.... Respectful firefighters who deserve major kudos... Idiot rescuer ...

I caught the article in the actual paper because we bought it for the 400 accident photos on the front page (my boyfriend and I were in the pile up and our friend's car was one of the ones that made the front page)... The paper version included a photo of the "rescuer" she looks to be half strangling the poor thing in the photo - the first fist on the neck death grip, outside - chucking it into what looks like a small metal dog crate.
