BP not eating... 1.5 months

Cage temps are 75/89. humidity is low at 30%, but very very very difficult to keep up higher due to the glass cage he is in.

probably about 4' long and weighs 1286 grams.

does move around the cage from hot to cold side, and has been active at night quite recently.

up until 1.5 months ago he ate consistently every other week, 3 full mice...
could this be due to the outside temps of aka winter and him being in hibernate mode?

Balls go off feed for many reasons...I have many that are off food now...After all it is the breeding season......As Tracy Barker says....A happy healthy ball python will eat when he's hungry....also I noticed you said your snake was 1200+grams, and ate 3 mice when you fed him...a snake that size will easily eat a small rat....If rats don't work....just keep offering food weekly....he will eventually come around...I actually had an adult male ball go off food for 8 months....then one day he started eating again....

Your temps are too cool, try to get them 80-84 on the cool side and 90-94 on the warm side. My very first ball python fasted in a glass tank for 8 months. Once I switched him to a tub set-up, he resumed eating, and didn't fast through winter again.

All my crew are eating through the winter.

he has been in the glass tank for about 1.5 years now. and its the first time he has ever fasted. i think tomorrow we are going to try a rat and not a mouse.

i have one breeder female that is not eating....the rest of my collection is eating fine..............she has not eaten for about 3months.......she has lost only 15 grams! she is just turning her nose up to food, and i haven't tried to push her. If she loses a good amount of weight, and becomes sick looking, a vet visit may be in order, or i'll try some ASF rats.......or my absolute last resort..Force Feed!

well, put a medium rat (live) in there, and within about 2 seconds it was demolished by the bp :D

I'm glad to hear that he finally ate for you. This is only my opinion..... Now that he took the rat, I would switch to f/t asap unless you were already feeding live responsibly. Rats can do much more damage than mice. Congrats on the feast:)

we have always fed him live and watch when he eats just to be sure. if there is no attention from Mr. Fuzzy or if something was to go wrong we would get that rat out asap. today we put the rat in the cage while the rat was still in its box container to make sure that Mr. Fuzzy showed interest, and he immediately did. so we let the rat go and boom.

I have noticed with my large female (2200g) that she seems uninterested in mice. Perhaps they are too small. But when I put a nice sized rat in there BAM dinner time.

Actually it takes her like 30min of stalking if I only have smaller rats
