    Finally Reproducing?
We adopted a brown mouse as a breeder back in November. We were unsure of her age and history but put her in with a silver male we had purchased from Petsmart. Nothing happened and finally we seperated them and about 3 weeks ago, we put her in a cage with a young white male. She started out as 39g two weeks ago and in the past 2 weeks as gained over 10g! We just weighed her and she's reached 51g. I will admit, we just added food to the cage but I would say only 1-2 g of that weight would be the result of just eating the food. So even still, thats 10g in just two weeks. She is looking rather plump now and we suspect she's pregnant. Would a rapid weight gain such as this point to a pregnancy? We don't feed them any more than any of the other mice. And the male remains at 33-35g and they don't really fight over food.

Ok, well I guess no one had an answer. So I guess I'll just post a pointless update.

She is definatly pregnant so I guess weight gain can sometimes point to a pregnancy. I suppose we are on pinky watch now. She's favoring her nest that she built and is growing larger every day.

She dropped 12-13 babies last night, most with milk bands now.

Congrats! I've never bred mice before, so I couldn't help you. Pics?

No pics right now as I don't want to disturb the mother. The other female mouse I had that gave birth almost two weeks ago is doing great. Her babies now have all their fur (all white) and will be two weeks old on the 23rd. I got some pictures of them but I won't upload till tonight or tomorrow.

    Cool, congratz.

I had my two females drop their litters (11 and 9 respectfully) almost at the same time. :) So now, I have about 20 little ones two days apart in age. Now comes the wait to make sure the moms are taking care of them so they'll grow up to the sizes I need.
