Ordering frozen prey/crickets
I'm looking to start mail ordering my prey for my pets, and I need a reputable frozen mouse/rat vendor, and live crickets for my anoles and tree frog, and I figured I should ask around here to get a good idea of who I can trust. Thanks in advance!
Re: Ordering frozen prey/crickets
Big cheese rodents!! That is the best place I have ordered from. I am sure man can agree.

The Mouse Factory. You pay shipping only on what you order and they have shipping discounts for quantity. Product is very well packed and very clean- no feces, limb breakage, etc. I highly recommend that you call Edna; she's terrific. http://www.themousefactory.com/index.html
Re: Ordering frozen prey/crickets
wherever you order from check to see if they vacuum pack there feeders, this greatly increases shelf life.you can order more and cut your cost down per feeder.
i've always used big cheese rodent factory, there service and quality is the best IMO.have fun !

Thanks! Shipping sure gets ya though... Anybody in the Madison, WI area want to team up and get lower rates for larger orders?
Re: Ordering frozen prey/crickets
what's the shelf life if they're not vacuum packed and just in a zip lock bag?
Re: Ordering frozen prey/crickets
a lot depends on how well you seal the bag each time you take feeders out.i always squeeze the air out and triple bag open feeders, perhaps 4-6 months maybe longer.
all of the rodent suppliers i talked to said if you keep vacuum sealed feeders at zero degrees they should be good for 2 years.
one thing i like about big cheese rodent factory is that they put down rodents once a week to fill the orders they have so when shipped there only been frozen a few days.
