Helix Question

I have a Helix thermostat. I have a heating mat and a heating lamp plugged into it. I have the prob hanging half-way down under the lamp and over the mat. The helix is set on 94 and my Acu-Rite (which is located on the ground) says 85.

Is this right? What do you suggest?

Put the probe on the ground. Remember heat raises.

I was thinking about doing that, but how can i get it to stay without my bp to knock it around?

weight it down with a rock or something.

I dont think its a good idea to have two different heat sources on one helix, unless it was the same wattage and type of heat source etc... For example two identical peices of flexwatt.

ok well i unplugged the heating mat and am just using the heat lamp.

i put the probe pretty close to the ground but not touching. is this ok? thanks.

I thought the helix could handle anything as long as it didn't go over the max wattage?

I might have to email rich, but i could have sworn i read that on the directions. That was about a year ago though. But im pretty sure. Maybe someone else with some serious Helix knowledge will chime in.

I would actually put the helix probe closer to the heat source, I personally dont use heat lamps but i tape the helix probe directly to the heat tape on my racks, and i use a temp gun to make sure temps are correct in each enclosure. Im sure you have a digital thermometer with probe, thats what i would use to read the temps in the enclosure. If it gets too hot then you know to turn the helix down a bit. i hope this makes sense, i dont have any tanks so i cant help as much as i would like too.
