    Poo ?
This may seem silly..... here we go.....

I have a poo sample I got out of Marvolo's enclosure the other night and am waiting for Saphira to leave me one to that I can take both to the vet to get checked for parasites.

The ?..... how long is too long to keep it in the frig? I will be taking it tomorrow afternoon and got it Friday night, I am fairly certain it was pretty fresh.

For that matter, how fresh do they have to be when you fish them out of the enclosure?

    Thanks!!!

I am not sure of an exact answer for this, but I am fairly certain that is recommended not to keep a stool sample frozen/refrigerated for more than a day or two. I am sure someone else can give you a more definitive answer, but I always try to get my fecal samples to the vet on the day they were 'laid' or the day after.

A day or two should be fine.

The longer its stored, the more parasitic eggs die. So it makes it harder to give a proper diagnosis.

I'm no poo expert (other than clean up procedures =P), but if it were me, I'd wait until I got another fresh one and get it to the vet that day or the next so I could be sure of getting a good test.

I am giggling:rofl:, talking about poo!!!

Thanks everyone, yea I will call the vet again, I should have asked when I set up the apt.

I was kind of thinking that stuff would die off if it sat too long, ewww.

    Thanks all!!!

You can keep the stool for a few days if you're just looking for eggs, but have to get them ASAP if you're suspecting protozoans
