New Spider picking hide on cool side
Im not sure if this is a huge concern or not, but my new guy seems to choose the cool side. Both hides are exactly alike so I don't know why. I just want to make sure he uses the warm side for belly heat.

it's nothing to really worry about. most of the time they will stay on the cool side but after a meal they will go to the warm side.

    hope this helps

Yeah, my bp always uses the cool side, but during shed and sometimes after meals would switch over to the warm side. One thing you can do is put a thermometer probe directly in the hide and check the temp. Before I had mine fixed it usually was 98ish inside while outside was only 94. Hence he didn't like to be in it at all.

I thought about that when I set up my tank, so I put the probe right where the snake lays inside the hide.

the snake might also be moving and thermoregulating properly when you're not watching.

my bp and sav both do that. i wouldn't worry about him staying on the cool side, mine rarely goes to the warm side (usually after meals and when shedding).
