    Flat bottom tubs
How important is it to have a flat bottom tub when using flexwatt heat tape. I see a lot of curve bottom (cheaper) tubs in the stores. Does the temp inside decline dramatically, or could it be a plus so the snake won't be have such a larger surface area to the expose heat. Just a thought...

I agree, flat bottom is preferable for cleaning - you would be amazed how a dried urate become concrete in the grooves.

Now as to your original question, you'd probably have to have the flexwatt set a few degrees higher to compensate for the space. Just play with it before you put your snake in, until you achieve the temps you want.

flat bottom tubs are much easier to clean and can save quite a bit of time cleaning. some tubs are easier to heat if they are flat(belly heat). personally i prefer almost all iris brand tubs.
